Las enfermedades inflamatorias del páncreas, comúnmente denominadas pancreatitis, constituyen uno de los motivos de consulta más frecuente para los médicos involucrados en las enfermedades del páncreas, conjuntamente con los tumores y/o el quiste en el páncreas. El término pancreatitis es muy genérico. Además del páncreas inflamado, engloba varias enfermedades que pueden tener un origen, manifestaciones clínicas y tratamiento muy distintas entre ellas.
