Los embarazos normales se desarrollan (crecen) dentro de tu útero, después de que un óvulo fertilizado (por un espermatozoide) viaja a través de tus trompas de Falopio y se implanta (adhiere) en la pared de tu útero. En un embarazo ectópico, el óvulo fertilizado se adhiere a otra parte de tu cuerpo, usualmente a las trompas de Falopio. Por eso, a veces se conoce como “embarazo tubárico”.
En la parte derecha de nuestro abdomen, se halla un pequeño órgano con forma de pera, llamado vesícula biliar. Como su propio nombre indica, su principal función es almacenar la bilis, un líquido que el hígado produce para ayudarnos a digerir las grasas. Cuando comemos, la vesícula biliar expulsa la bilis a través de un tubo -el conducto biliar común o colédoco- y la libera en el intestino delgado. Aquí se mezcla con los alimentos que el estómago ha digerido.
Sus dimensiones pueden ser milimétricas, desde las conocidas popularmente como “arenillas” hasta alcanzar varios centímetros. Suelen mostrar un color marrón o amarillento, de contornos más o menos lisos y regulares, o también ser irregulares. Puede existir uno o varios cálculos renales al mismo tiempo.
