La gripe, o influenza, es una enfermedad viral contagiosa que afecta principalmente el sistema respiratorio. Causada por distintos virus de la influenza, esta enfermedad puede variar desde casos leves hasta complicaciones graves, especialmente en individuos vulnerables.
La neumonía es una inoculación en uno o ambos pulmones. Causa que los alvéolos pulmonares se llenen de líquido o pus. Puede variar de leve a grave, según el tipo de germen que causa la infección, su edad y su estado general de salud. Algunos casos debutan como una neumonía típica, que consiste en la aparición en varias horas o entre 2 y 3 días de tos con expectoración purulenta o herrumbrosa, en ocasiones con sangre, con dolor torácico y fiebre con escalofríos.
