La anafilaxia es una reacción alérgica de nivel alto generada por la entrada en contacto con algo (alérgeno) a lo que el paciente es alérgico. Lo más frecuente es que se produzca porque se ha ingerido durante la comida algo que produce alergia, porque se ha producido una picadura de un insecto o porque se entra en una zona donde se inhala alguna sustancia que provoca alergia. La anafilaxia es grave y puede significar un riesgo de muerte si no se actúa con rapidez. Dependiendo de cada caso la anafilaxia puede desencadenarse en pocos segundos o en algunas horas.
