- Consume pescado siempre cocinado o tras haberlo congelado. El pescado fresco puede estar infectado con anisakis, un parásito que puede causar enfermedades. Alimentos en riesgo, por consumirse crudos o casi crudos, pueden ser los boquerones en vinagre y otros pescados en escabeche o marinados, como el ceviche. También los pescados ahumados, en salmuera o crudos como el sushi y sus variantes.
- Cuando vayas a descongelar un alimento, no lo hagas a temperatura ambiente. Deja que se descongele la noche antes en el frigorífico o utiliza el microondas. De esa manera, la cadena del frío se mantiene, porque evitas descongelar los alimentos bruscamente.
- Lávate muy bien las manos con agua y jabón al menos por 20 segundos antes de preparar y consumir los alimentos.
- Utiliza tablas de cortar separadas para preparar carne y pescado crudos, y otra para frutas y vegetales.
- Cocina los alimentos a la temperatura recomendada.
- Con agua fría. Puede descongelar los alimentos poniéndolos en agua y cambiando el agua cada 30 minutos para evitar que la comida se caliente demasiado. Esto tomará unos 30 minutos. Utilice este método únicamente si planea cocinar la comida inmediatamente después de ser descongelada.
- Evite sobrecargar su refrigerador
- Puede ser tentador almacenar la mayor cantidad de alimentos posibles y llenar su refrigerador, pero recuerde que la circulación de aire es necesaria para mantener los alimentos frescos. Utilice un termómetro para asegurarse de que los alimentos dentro del refrigerador se mantengan a 4°C (40° F) o por debajo. Esto puede significar ajustar la temperatura un poco menos de la temperatura normal.
